# Welcome to my Commonplace Book > ***Commonplace books*** are a way to compile knowledge, usually by typing notes and **\[[linking]]** them within an [[Obsidian]] vault. These marvels of technology are future-proof and were kept particularity during the twenty-first century by hardcore geeks and aspiring novelists alike. Such books are essentially digital-scrapbooks filled with items of every time: [[Recipes.|recipies]], [[List of Quotes|quotes]], snippets, [[Poems|Poems]], [[lyrics]], tables of weights and measures, [[Contrary proverbs|proverbs]], [[the prayer Grandma used to say before eating|prayers]], legal formulas, LaTeX calculations, todo lists, wish lists, and [[Photography Resources|pages with lists of links]] to other pages that have lists (and links). > > Commonplaces are used by [[reading|readers]], writers, bloggers, [[List of YouTube channels|YouTubers]], students and academics as an aid for remembering useful concepts or facts. Each one is [[unique]] to its creator's particular interests but they almost always include beautiful knowledge graphs that inspire and motivate. > > They have gained notable popularity in 2026 with the rise of LLMs such as [[2 Commonplace/AI/Claude|Claude]]. *N'Joy!*
