# 40 questions to ask yourself every year 2025 Edition [[40 questions to ask yourself every year]] ### 40 questions to ask yourself every year – 2025 Edition ### 2025 Edition > "One of my rituals at the end the year is asking myself these forty questions." — [Steph Ango](http://stephanango.com/40-questions) I don't be trying to get all fancy with these. This does not evolve into an essay. But now that I have a small stack of them, I am delighted that I have keep up with them. #### What did you do this year that you’d never done before? Proposed to Christina on the shore of Lake Chatuge in North Carolina. #### ~~Did you keep your new year’s resolutions?~~ These are never a thing. #### Did anyone close to you give birth? No #### Did anyone close to you die? No #### What cities/states/countries did you visit? Roadtripped from the Milwaukee area down to northern Georgia. #### What would you like to have next year that you lacked this year? Presence. The cats are really helping with that in immeasurable ways. #### What date(s) from this year will remain etched upon your memory, and why? - **April 24th** Engagement 💍 - **May 7th** Shadow 🐈‍⬛ - **December 28th** Pixel 🐈‍⬛ #### What was your biggest achievement of the year? Making the first shoot Christina and I did together back in August come across as if we'd been doing it for years. #### What was your biggest failure? Presence would be a great answer, but I suppose the logic here would be to say that hitting a deer, no matter how much of an accident it was, is probably the biggest "Fuck Me" moment of the year. #### What other hardships did you face? This situation with Grandma basically casts a shadow over everything else that happened this year. Despite having first happened in October, it somehow has taken the mental and physical toll of the entire year leading up to that point in just a handful of weeks. I'm not trying to sound like an ungrateful bitch or anything, but I am just simply stating – it has taken **a lot** of out of all of us. #### Did you suffer illness or injury? Yes. Big time. I had some sort of unexplained episode in North Carolina. I guess I turned purple, stopped breathing and go too rigid or stiff and then went limp. That's not how I remember it, I only really remember right before and minute or two before my vision came back and I came back to reality. Never got it checked out, but this is America – dying is usually a better option than medical bills if you're in the lower middle class. #### What was the best thing you bought? #### Whose behavior merited celebration? Christina. Everything she did regarding Grandma basically puts me into her debt for the rest of my natural life. Which is what I intended all along, that is to say, put myself into her debt, but it was a voluntarily thing. ;) I'm fucking around obviously, but she is truly one of the best people I could have ever have asked to have met and know, let alone someday call my Wife. #### Whose behavior made you appalled? Countless people at work. This is always going to be the right answer. #### Where did most of your money go? 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈 #### What did you get really, really, really excited about? Making sure that trip to North Carolina was flawless, so I could focus all my anxiety on the proposal. And while I do feel super fucking guilty about it now, I was really fucking excited about making sure I got the proposal photographed with no help from anybody. #### What song will always remind you of this year? Due to the ridiculousness at work, there can be several proper answers here. But this year, it has to be "Good" by Better than Ezra. #### Compared to this time last year, are you: happier or sadder? Thinner or fatter? Richer or poorer? **Happy/Sad:** It's hard to say you're happy with everything going on with Grandma. I am delighted and overjoyed about my engagement but fuck me with timing. **Thinner/Fatter:** Thinner, *somehow*. Richer/Poorer: Lower-middle-class Blue-collar is always going to be poorer. #### What do you wish you’d done more of? Been present. #### What do you wish you’d done less of? Noodling the system. #### How are you spending Christmas? Christmas was cancelled. #### Did you fall in love this year? Typically I would get the pass here, but yeah this year I have fallen in love twice with two black cats. #### ~~Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?~~ [Nope](https://www.wmprkr.xyz/nope/) #### What was your favorite show? Downton Abbey – third time. I think it might be my favorite show of all time. #### What was the best book you read? 48 Laws of Power #### What was your greatest musical discovery of the year? I did not have one this year, although I really did fall in love with the score to Accountant 2. #### What was your favorite film? Didn't see enough to have a favorite. #### What was your favorite meal? Anything Christina and I made on that new grill she bought me on Father's Day. #### What did you want and get? Two cats. #### ~~What did you want and not get?~~ #### What did you do on your birthday? Worked. Normal day. #### What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? I'm full-time-blue-collar, so the only appropriate answer here is a week of paid leave from work that I was actually able to take and enjoy. #### How would you describe your personal fashion this year? Seeing as how baseball suddenly captivate my attention this year, I have been pretty stacked in Milwaukee Brewers attire. The amount of hats I have is *ridiculous*. #### What kept you sane? Baseball, which is why I think it latched onto me like a parasite out of fucking nowhere this year. #### Which celebrity/public figure did you admire the most? #### ~~What political issue stirred you the most?~~ See politics if you'd like to know more. #### ~~Who did you miss?~~ [Nope](https://www.wmprkr.xyz/nope/) #### Who was the best new person you met? Nobody #### What valuable life lesson did you learn this year? That I have a really good family, but that shit starts to easier and easier to see thru the farther you get away from the immediate inner-circles. Personally I have learned about myself that when shit hits the fan and things are really bad – I really do not have any problem getting fucking after it and doing whatever needs to be done. Total self-less sacrifice. Here let me do this and let me do that. I wish I was like that all the time. Still got some worthless bitch in me. #### What is a quote that sums up your year? It'll be what it is.
