While at [Menards](http://www.menards.com/) a while back I noticed that wire brushes that are made for cleaning off your grill grate went from anywhere from three dollars (for a very cheaply made one that wont last longer than a few uses) all the way to a very fancy one that costs **seven dollars**!
My advice? Skip all the fancy colors and temptations of the "grilling aisle" setup at your local department or hardware store and go directly to where they sell standard wire brushes. You can pick yourself up a typical wire brush which will offer longer wire bristles than the ones offered for _cleaning grills_ and many of them still have the little "scraper blade" attached on the end to remove any heavy struck-on food that might be on the grate. What's best? You'll walk away with a superior wire brush that will beat up any of these offered in the grilling aisle for a **fraction of the cost!** The one you see pictured here I got for less than two and half dollars. Reaffirming the tired adage of thinking outside of the box even for things like a grill brush.
You've got to keep both eyes on your wallet and hold it with both hands because it's so easy to lose control to convenience and let these retailers take control of our "in a rush" mentalities that we live on a day-to-day basis.
