After the recent Natty Upgrade Disaster, we finally got around to changing the desktop. Funny how back in the day this used to be top priority. But Ubuntu defaults always seem to keep me happy for initial setups. Regardless, when I went to change my desktop I noticed there were these "slideshow" options, straight out of the box. They rotated images that were on your computer already.
I wanted to know how to make one of these myself. With images that I took or created myself. I poked around and found and XML file and found it not too difficult to "roll your own" desktop slideshow without some fancy program running at times in the background, clogging memory—sucking resources.
So I prepared three images in Gimp and rolled up my initial slideshow with these three images. I'll plan to make a screencast in the future of the whole process but for now I thought I would share the desktops. Only got them at my monitors resolution for the time being. I don't see much of a demand for other options at this time.
