I bought this new keyboard and mouse from OfficeMax over the weekend that were on some incredible markdowns. First the mouse was epic cos it had Forward/Back buttons on it for browsing the web (but almost more importantly local file directory history as well within the native file browser) but also this DPI button. I didn't care much about the DPI button, for hitting it makes scrolling either WAY QUICK or normal. Regardless I was in it for the horizontal scrolling feature (4-way scrolling). I really missed that from my old MS mouse from back in the day. Seventeen dollars for the mouse and ten for the keyboard.
The mouse blows. I'm officially back on the mouse that came with this bargain tower machine _already_! I don't know if the bottom of the mouse just doesn't seem to work well with the mousepad or what, but the general movement of the mouse was so shitty! Doing 'normal' stuff was fine but small, precise movement were a fucking joke! It was like poking a frog in the ass―he hops far away!
The keyboard was a little bit of a curve as well, initially but I have really gotten to like it. I had to make sure that the damn thing had TWO super keys (Windows keys) on it, cos I have GNOME doing various things with each of them, and to be honest, I can't part with that part of my computing experience. Paying so much attention to that I didn't realize how much I have grown to love that MENU button on the keyboard as well. Cos I don't use the mouse if I don't have too, (Keyboard Cowboys Forever! Peace and Love to the Samurai!) so I was using that menu button all the time to access Nautilus' right-click menu, etc. This new keyboard despite all its fancy new features, fails to have a menu button.
Its cos a few cool things that a standard 104 would not have however, and that is kinda what I was looking for. I felt like an ape pounding on the cellphone when I used my other one. It was alright as has definitely has served its purpose though the past year, but I just wanted an upgrade, so shoot me! I broke Clark's house rules again!
