Since the introduction of Woodman's, joining Costco and my infatuation with ALDI there wasn't much worry there, but when I went to the 124th & North Sendik's today and saw the same tear-down, rename process going on there I was quite upset. At least in my experience Piggly Wiggly (although the original gangster of grocery stores) always has higher prices than the former big dog on the block (Pick 'n Save) but that isn't apparently what has "the Pig" motivated.  It has to be Walmart, and Target and even ALDI who are dishing out the pain to the traditional grocery stores with drastic markups and low-quality produce. \[caption id="attachment\_1544" align="alignleft" width="256"\][![](images/Sendiks-building-256x170.jpg "Sendik's building")](http://openpluto.com/journal/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Sendiks-building.jpg) Historic. What shall be a distant memory, a Sendik's building.\[/caption\] Sendik's has always been known for having produce that others don't bother to dabble in. You could go in there and get Dandelion greens, two different types depending on what time of the year it was.  Today however when I went they have already stuffed the Mustard greens, Turnips greens in a dark corner, I'm sure to try and sell before they discontinue carrying the product. Clearly not worth the drive off the highway to go up to 124th and get raped by _the Pig_.  I suppose I need to bury the hatchet with the Balestreri-owned Sendik's as they have become the newest high-quality produce supplier in the locale area of Milwaukee. Might have to give Outpost and State Street Sentry a whole hell lot more business.  Some of use like exotic produce, and need it!
