Toggling settings on your Android really does make charging happen earlier.  I put my phone on charge just at about 11 AM when it was at 5% and now it's not even noon and its already in the mid-60's. I have setup a "Charging Quickly" task on Tasker.  Turn off screen rotation, wifi, mobile data and account sync.
