Time to pass on whatever knowledge I have of the game as I teach my better half how to play chess this evening. I had tried to teach her previously but two major things where very wrong.
1. I was in the middle of my **extremely out of control** drinking phase, trying to teach an epic game such as chess entirely shitfaced, and letting her basically learn from a
2. **Playstation 4** tutorial.
What a nightmare! It's hard to learn such a thing as chess so digitally I firmly believe. It's all about seeing the pieces and touching them. Seeing the "horse" and the "castle" and the little slash on the top of the Bishop. Things like that do not resonate for a first-timer who is just learning the ropes.
_**A random aside:** I think I should start maybe posting my pictures from [Google Photos](https://photos.google.com/) like once a week or every other week with captions just so I can bring everything up to speed. Nothing quite as enjoyable as dialing the calendar back and reading stuff from the past. It's why I still put stuff up on here as much as I can. I can go back and read the words and see the pictures (if the links are not broken) and know **exactly** how I was feeling when I was composing the post._
