# Vests ```yaml title: Vests published_date: 2023-07-20 09:15 ``` 🐈‍⬛ ---  A good vest is a really hard thing to find. I've sort of locked myself into this idea that I have a "photographer outfit" that I wear when I go out to take photos. It's a combination of some Dickies 874 work pants and Dickies work shirt. In 90 degree weather however under a blazing sun, the Dickies work shirt is is a bit too much. I wont wear the shirt without all the buttons buttoned, and undoing the top one is a lot more cooler to wear, but it looks unprofessional in my opinion. So I went the route that most newer photographers thing is ridiculous and bought a vest. I do keep my Wander sling with me but I prefer to have my lens cap and batteries on my physical person so I can quickly get at them without even having to swing around my sling. A gardening vest from Duluth out of nowhere saves the day. It's got pockets on the "back" that can hold gloves if you were gardening, but it's perfect for the lens caps and anything else that I need to get at quickly. The back is also vented, which is a godsend for this hot weather!  Like almost anything else I have been into in my life, there is so much more to be taken into consideration other than the actual camera and lenses in regards to having a decent setup. Perhaps if I knew how deep this rabbit hole would be going, I'd not have jumped in in the first place. But it's right now one of those situations where, getting out now and going hardcore and jumping farther in have the same gut feeling. So going farther in is what we will do. I really do love this shit to death. I actually feel bad going to my hourly job because I know how much valuable time I'm wasting while being there, when despite not making any monetary gain, I'd actually benefit from being out honing my skills as a photographer. That it for now. As a side note, but worth pointing out, I'm still feeling the effects of Sound of Freedom all this time later. I thought about it every time I saw a child playing and having fun in Village Park or Retzer Nature Center yesterday.
